Dec 14 – The United Way wrapped up another successful campaign Wednesday evening with their 5th Annual Budweiser Trivia Series.
Debbie Bogle, Executive Director of the United Way, said this year’s Trivia Night campaign was great. “We had trivia for six weeks this year. We really appreciate everything Aric Lee does for that. He is great at it and gets the crowd revved up and makes it a lot of fun. We had a great turnout this year and hope to do the same next year.” Trivia Night was held on Wednesdays in November and December. Each week there were 50 questions that teams had to answer to earn up to 75 points. The highest-scoring team each week won $150 and the team with the most points at the end of the six weeks won another $300.
In addition to the Trivia Night campaign, the United Way is wrapping up other campaigns with local businesses and looking into next year. Bogle said, “We’ll have our annual meeting, Run United, Ride United, Big Obstacle 3K, and Day of Action. So we have a lot going on that we are gearing up for. We’ll also have funds distribution this year. It’s an every other year process where the community comes in and decides where the investments go.” The Community Impact Reinvestment process will start in the spring. Bogle said they will start gathering volunteers from their donor pool to help them see where the money is most needed within the community.
While fall is the main time for companies to start their campaigns, Bogle said they start new campaigns every month. There are also Impact Tours given to see the needs of the city. “If you haven’t been involved with the United Way or any of the agencies, you can go on an Impact Tour and really learn about what’s happening in the community; what the needs are; and what outcomes the agencies are able to track and see what they are doing is making a difference and moving people towards self-sufficiency.” Impact Tours can accommodate up to 50 people and the United Way will provide transportation.
