Power of the Purse is a premier United Way of Decatur & Mid Illinois celebration—an evening defined by style, generosity, and purpose. On Thursday, April 9th, UWDMI will present the inaugural Power of the Purse signature event to our community, benefiting Dolly Parton Imagination Library & Youth Opportunity right here in our community.

Hosted at the Mt. Zion Convention Center, guests will enjoy a vibrant, thoughtfully curated experience featuring:

• 100+ purses available for auction (From Universal Thread Goods Co. to Louis Vuitton & everything in between) 
• Exclusive prize packages and jewelry raffles
• Cocktails, gourmet cuisine, and an elevated event atmosphere (Dress in your best spring florals and garden-party chic)
• A gathering of more than 200 community-minded women and leaders

Every dollar raised directly supports community programs that ensure children are prepared for kindergarten, achieve grade-level learning milestones, and have access to enriching experiences. These programs work together to help our youth thrive. They include preschools, mentoring initiatives, nutrition support, and literacy efforts such as UWDMI’s Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (DPIL), which is available at no cost to all children under five in the communities we serve. These efforts ensure more children have access to books at home and more families receive the support they need to thrive.
